Pegboard Drill Holder

I’ve been searching for a way to get the drills off my workbench without putting them on the other side of the shop with the charger. I contemplated building a dedicated drill and charging station like this one or that one but I decided I didn’t want to lose the wall space from it. Those ideas and dozen others just like them are wonderful ideas but losing 36′ of wall space due to being in a 2 car garage with roll-up doors, I decided finding something simpler to suit my needs.

Nearly ever pegboard hook kit you buy will come with at least a couple of these hooks that have a support arm underneath. They are made to put a small shelf on. While they are super strong, I don’t see much of a reason to have a shelf on a pegboard.

This is very straight forward so rather show you, I’ll let the photos do the talking.

Each side is zip-tied to the shelf so it cannot slide off.

Each end was marked and drilled with a 1/4″ forstner bit to provide recess for the peghooks. This keeps the shelf in place as well as the hooks from racking.

Between the zip ties in back and the recess holes in front, I suspect the weakest part of the mount will be the pegboard itself.

I don’t believe there will be any issue with strength though even for a 30 year old pegboard. Another hook has the following items on it and there’s no problem with strength:, 1/2″ conduit bender, 2 framing squares, 4′ level, Kreg rip cut jig (minus the saw sled).
